Matthew 20:26 It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great
among you must be your servant,
Matthew 20:27 and whoever would be first among you must be your slave,
Matthew 20:28 even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Jesus came into this world and turned it upside down.
In society there is kind of a triangle of power and the people at the top of
this triangle are the people that have the most power and they don’t expect to
serve other people and they aren’t really expected to serve people. People at
the bottom of the triangle are more the people that serve others. They don’t
have as much power as the people higher up in the triangle. Those in authority
and those that have power shouldn’t hold that over the people that are under
them. Jesus came into this world serving and he left this world serving. Jesus
turns this social triangle upside down. He is saying that the greatest among
the people should be the of the people. Not lord it over them, but to serve
them. Jesus came to be a servant to all. He died on a cross for us and he is
the ransom for our sins. He died on that cross for our sins. To save us and be
the ransom for us.
Application
Today I will look for every opportunity to be a
servant.
