James
1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him
ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be
given him.
“If
any of you lacks wisdom” This says “If” so it is for a time of
trial. Needing wisdom in times of trials. There are many times in
life when we don't know what to do and it says here “let him ask
God” So when we are in trials we should ask God. It doesn't say to
do anything besides ask. This is what we can do as Christians in
times of trials. Instead of turning to the world for answers we can
ask God and we will give us wisdom. He gives generously to all
without reproach or rebuke. We don't have to feel embarrassed coming
to God and asking for wisdom. God will give us the wisdom that we
need in the time of trial. The last words of this verse are “it
will be given him” 1st John 5:14 and 15 says,
1st
John 5:14 And this is the confidence
that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his
will he hears us.
1st
John 5:15 And if we know that he hears
us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have
asked of him.
Asking
for wisdom from God is in his will. He will hear us and he will
answer us.
Application
The
next time that I find myself in a difficult situation I will not look
to the world for answers but I will look to God and ask Him for
wisdom because he gives generously to all.
